PAN & KOF.FEE

Pan & Kof.feé is a bakery and cafe in Merida’s Santa Ana neighbourhood, just two blocks from Paseo Montejo on Calle 43 between 58 and 60. It is known for its freshly baked bread, pastries and coffee, all made with care each morning.

The bakery makes its own sourdough and laminates its croissants in house, with a selection of pastries that includes pain au chocolat, cinnamon rolls, cruffins and more. The coffee is equally noteworthy, with beans sourced from growers across Mexico, including Veracruz, Chiapas and Oaxaca, and roasted by the café’s own roastery.

For breakfast and brunch, the menu goes well beyond pastries, with avocado toast, French toast, eggs Benedict, omelettes, chilaquiles, breakfast plates, sandwiches and pizzas. The French toast and chilaquiles are particularly popular, while the freshly baked sourdough and croissants are worth picking up even if you are just stopping by for coffee.

Downstairs, you can grab an espresso at the bar or settle in for breakfast, while upstairs there is a glass fronted kitchen where you can see the baking and cooking taking place. The spacious interior has plenty of natural light and a calm, welcoming atmosphere that works equally well for a quiet breakfast, meeting friends or getting some work done. There is also an outside dining area.

PRO TIP

Go early for the best selection of freshly baked pastries and bread. If you have time to sit down, try the French toast or chilaquiles alongside a coffee.
